What we do

The University of Bristol’s Research For Change (RFC) seeks to create stimulating and yet informal platforms for discussion on legal change. We work closely with postgraduate researchers and legal experts to discuss changes and trends, and possible solutions and ways to move forward.

Our Events

Since 2018, RFC has organised numerous forums and talks with postgraduate students, faculty members and external speakers, on topics varying from human rights, to criminal (in)justice. Notably, in December 2021, we invited speakers from the Law Commission to introduce the work of the Commision, including the law surrounding surrogacy. We also hosted a forum with Dr Michael Naughton from Empowering The Innocent, where we discussed miscarriages of justice cases he worked on in the past. We were also joined by applicants of wrongful convictions of the criminal justice system and conducted a real-time interview with them. In future, we plan to host even more interesting and interactive sessions, including Dinners with Postgraduate students and careers in legal research talks.

Our Podcast

Through the RFC Podcast, we aim to create an informal and comfortable environment for open and accessible discourse ranging from the latest news to human-rights issues. We strive to act as a platform for new connections between students, professionals and scholars; with the objectives of raising commercial awareness and inspiring inquisitiveness and zeal for political, social and global affairs.
