Shoutout: RFCF Writing Competition

Do you have a knack for researching new and changing areas of law? Do you want to boost your CV over the Christmas holidays by publishing an article with an official Bristol Law School Partner? The Research for Change Forum has just the writing competition for you!

Earlier this term, we held two forums: Emotional Readiness in Law and Comparative Human Rights. In hopes of encouraging students all to interact with the notion of research, we are now inviting you to write a short 500 word informal essay in response to the themes of either event! Whether providing a different research viewpoint or a more in-depth look at an issue that was covered in the talk, there is simply no limit to what you can write about in this competition, as long as a link may be made back to either Emotional Readiness or Comparative Human Rights. This is a brilliant opportunity to gain valuable practice in formulating and articulating legal opinions, and you will be able to get invaluable feedback from well established legal scholars on your writing!

For essays related to Emotional Readiness, our speakers at our evening event, Iain Christie, Barrister and Mediator at 4-5 Gray’s Inn, and Hannah Holdaway, practicing Family Law Solicitor and Bristol Postgraduate student, have kindly offered to provide feedback.

For essays on Comparative Human Rights, our kind Postgraduate students, Matias Rodriguez Burr, Christopher Gray and Hakeem Tijani, will provide feedback as well.

Couldn’t make it to either of our events? No worries! We will be publishing Recaps for both events on the blog. Additionally, as we will not be designating titles to this competition, you are strongly encouraged to do independent research on your own! Please watch this space and our social medias so that you are notified when the recaps for the events go up!
